SavePal ("we", "us") helps you track money owed between you and other people. This policy explains what we collect and how we use it.

1. Local-first by default

SavePal works as a guest with no account. The people, debts, and balances you create are stored on your device. If you do not create an account, this data is not sent to our servers except as needed to process AI requests (see §3) or when you choose to back up (see §4).

2. Information we collect

  • Content you enter: names you give to people in your ledger, amounts, currencies, notes, and the natural-language phrases you type or speak.
  • Anonymous device identifier: on first launch we create a random device token so the app can use AI features and, later, sync — this is not tied to your identity.
  • Account details (optional): if you create an account, your email address and a securely hashed password.
  • Diagnostics (future): aggregate, non-identifying analytics and crash reports to improve the app.

Voice input is converted to text on your device; we do not receive your audio.

3. AI processing

To turn a phrase like "Ahmad owes me $100" into a ledger entry, the text you submit is sent to our AI provider (OpenRouter) for interpretation and returned to the app. We log usage metadata (such as token counts) to operate the service. We do not use your content to train models.

4. Backup & sync

If you create an account, your ledger is stored on our servers so you can back it up and sync across devices. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time (see §8).

5. How we use information

  • To provide the core service (interpret entries, keep balances, sync).
  • To maintain security and prevent abuse (e.g. rate limits).
  • To improve the app via aggregate diagnostics.

6. Sharing

We do not sell your data. We share content only with service providers that operate the app on our behalf (e.g. our AI provider for interpretation, and notification/analytics providers in future), under appropriate safeguards, or where required by law.

7. Retention

On-device data persists until you delete it or uninstall the app. Server-side account data is retained until you delete your account.

8. Your rights

You can access, correct, export, or delete your data. To exercise these rights or delete your account, email support@savepal.ai.

9. Children

SavePal is not directed to children under 13 (or the age required in your region). We do not knowingly collect their data.

10. Changes

We may update this policy and will revise the "Last updated" date above.
